A restored brownstone on a side street off Communipaw Avenue hides its dirt in the places the restoration never reached: the tops of the pocket door frames, the ledge behind the marble mantel, the slats of a radiator cover, and the drawers of a kitchen that was gutted and rebuilt but never scrubbed afterward.
